This is usually how Art trades work (For me at least) Artist B asks Artist A to do an art trade Artist A accepts (or declines) and asks what they want them to draw. Artist B asks for artist A to draw them blank Artist A asks artist B to draw them blank The two artist draw what the other asked for and then submits it. That’s usually how it goes.
