Yami

So here's the design drawing for Yami, the second character of my fan oneshot. I've kinda been doing these in reverse order of how I normally design characters, as I normally have them fully made on paper, before touching their visual design way later (obviously slightly designed in my imagination early on). So, there's not a whole lot to say other than she's Sashiba's "friend", and is an actual sorcerer as well. Next up is to design a trio of characters, members of a self-proclaimed "En's #1 fan club".

Question for Fun

Question: What is the most visually appealing anime you've seen? (movies and OVAs apply too) My answer: K-Project. It might not have the most fluid animation, but damn if it doesn't have really good art direction, as well as some really cool scenes with good general direction. Like the parts with Yata on his skateboard, or the various Kings' abilities in action, and the big rooftop fight at the start of season 2, it left a lasting impression on me.The anime never really stops feeling like it has cinematic levels of production, at least to me. There are plenty of close seconds to it, mostly by Madhouse, but studio GoHands did a great job with this, as far as everything visual is concerned. [Edit] Here's the S2 fight scene I mentioned, on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8I95WL9H08 . It's about as high resolution as you can easily find for the whole thing, and there is some fanservice starting at 4:50 in, just for fair warning. There's not really any major spoilers either.

Short Shoujo Submission!

https://medibang.com/book/pk1905281323533810001430384/

I took a 5 day break from Artisan Alley, and did this in a heated frenzy for no reason at all that I can justify except that I just wanted to do it and be able to post something.
I used Shinji and Kaylah (aged down) for the designs. The story, tho, is actually 2 years old. I did a little revising but I storyboarded it one night just for fun. I have a lot of little one offs like that that I just never get to do so I am glad I got the chance and the energy this time to do one. I've been doing Artisan Alley for 8 months hahaha, so I needed to do something lighthearted I think!
It's not that good, seriously, and I am not sure about posting it but I did, and although it was just for fun, I welcome feedback. So, enjoy!

Heeeey

Still steadily inking every day! Medibangs in a bit of a slog but with all these contests I'm excited to see people's work! I'm sure there will be some amazing submissions! Keep working hard, everyone!!!
Here's some sketches I did on breaks, I'm almost halfway done inking but I wanted to post something! I dont know, I'd expect most people have stopped waiting for my manga by now, since it's been months. I too thought id be done by now... in fact the original deadline was march... but im a beginner so it really doesn't impact my success... I'm just glad to still be working hard on it! I know I'm slow. Thank you so much for supporting me! Have a good night and keep drawing!

Reiju Fan Art: Doro-style (*Updated)

First, sorry for being lazy/distracted, I'll try to go through your guys' stuff that's been posted and give some feedback. As for this drawing however, I took the char Reiju from One Piece, and altered her design a little to try to fit her into Doro' thematically, like I did with my own character Sashiba. I think I did a decent job of getting the tattered gritty look, with small pieces of armor that some wear, and some Japanese influence in places. It's good practice on how to think about more intricate character designs. I also upped the resolution that I was drawing at again, which makes this look even nicer, I think. And, I tried out a slightly different coloring method of using the watercolor brush set to Size: 7-ish, Opacity: 9%, Color Mix: 11, and Compliment: 25. Using two to three shades for each part, and using longer elliptic strokes like coloring with a marker, and purposely leaving small slivers of white space here and there to make the color look less "uniform".

Update

One more page to sketch then on to inks! There are so many people who have been patient waiting for this oneshot as i got slower and slower, but i hope its worth it because i have been painstaking in my effort to improve and make every page better than the last. I love this manga so much! All of my love, attention, and patience has gone to developing the art and making constant revisions but i have loved it every step of the way, even tho i got frustrated to tears many times. I took so long and sometimes a couple days went between pages. Some panels have taken me five hours to do. 72 pages and every panel has my emotion in it. I truly love this world and its characters more than any other ive done. Im so excited to share it with you all!!

Foreshortening Quick Sketch

Yeah, so in the end I wasn't very happy with how the previous drawing turned out, so I wanted to at least try to remedy it a little. Thank you Nass in particular, as I did check on your referral to the Sycra guy's drawing stuff, and I did a quick sketch of a pose with foreshortening using the coil method he shows. I've not tried this before, and it's still baffling how to align stuff in 3d space, like getting the hips right, how to show legs bending and elevating, and especially how to have a waistline on a torso that's foreshortened, I guess it has to be really subtle or something, haven't figured it out yet. Anyway, here's the sketch...and if it isn't complete garbage as a baseline, I would like to turn it into a drawing, we'll see if that happens.

Texturing Practice

This was mainly an exercise in doing texture for wooden and leather surfaces, those being the walls under the counter and its supports, and the leather pants of course. I also tried to throw in a little perspective, as the girl is supposed to be leaning forward a good bit on the counter, but I don't know, it feels just a little off. Also, I think I did the shirt better this time, though it still could look better. As always, feel free to let me know any suggestions you have for improvements I can make.
