The Asia Illustrations Annual Awards, held every year all over Asia, has grown into an enormous event in the illustration industry. It is a grand spectacle that has been receiving superb reviews all around the world. The 2018 Asia Annual Illustration Awards will see the winners have their artwork displayed in Songshan Cultural and Creative Park.
If your entry is chosen as a winner for the Asia Illustrations Annual Awards, then you work will be displayed on a grand platform where it will lead to your recognition as an illustrator to rise.

Purpose

The Asia Illustrations Annual Awards is an project to create overseas culture, operated by the Asia Illustrations Association.
Starting in 2014, we have enlisted illustrations from many countries around the world every year. Over 250 creators have represented their distinct countries and their unique cultures and the project itself has spanned 1250 works.
Artwork from over 10 countries, including Taiwan, China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, will be shown at the Asia Illustrations Annual Awards.

As part of the project, winning entries of the Asia Illustrations Annual Awards will be published in the Asia Illustrations Yearbook which is circulated every year.
The Asia Illustrations Yearbook is viewed by famous professionals in each field and industry, so it is a great opporunity for illustrators.

The 2018 Asia Illustrations Annual Awards will have an exhibit at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, which will last a period of 3 months from December 16th 2017 to March 4th 2018.
The venue will be at the 1st Warehouse at the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park and every artwork for the year will be showcased there.

Entries that win at the 2018 Asia Illustrations Annual Awards will have the chance to be showcased on a grander stage and be viewed upon by many people around the world.

During the period of the exhibition, there will be an opening press conference, award ceremony for participants, grand prize ceremony, and signing.
We hope all illustrators, viewers and guests enjoy the Asia Illustrations Annual Awards.

The 2018 Asia Illustrations Annual Awards will be held at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, in Taiwan in December 2017.

The Asia Illustrations Annual Awards is heading into its fourth year.
With the scale of the event growing, we strive to learn from each year and use that knowledge to improve it.
We have only one goal in mind: to show winning artwork in their best form. We endeavor to do just that.

Famous new illustrators are born at the Asia Illustrations Annual Awards, like Taiwan's Wan Wan, Japan's Toshitaka Nabata, and Hong Kong's Kenny.
Participating in the Asia Illustrations Annual Awards will lead to deeper exchanges with famous illustrators and enable unprecedented and innovative new ideas.

2018 Asia Illustrations Annual Awards Entry Conditions

Artwork Submission Period: 9:00 a.m., July 1, 2017 to 11:59 p.m., September 15, 2017 (JST)
Event Duration: December 16, 2017 to March 4, 2018
Entry Fee: 3,700 yen (requires Japanese bank account)


Terms & Conditions for application

  • Artwork already included in the Asia Illustrations Collections is not allowed.
  • The artist can only submit artwork that they own copyright for. Furthermore, the entrant must have the right to allow printing the work into the Asia Illustrations Collections.
  • Entries will be used for promotion of the 2018 Asia Illustrations Collections.
  • The manner in which your artwork is arranged may be changed if deemed necessary.
  • The inclusion of your work or time and location of the exhibition may change if deemed necessary.
  • The entrant must provide their real name and correct personal information. Should any falsification of information be discovered, the sponsor has the right to disqualify the entrant.
  • If the entrant has been disqualified, then their entry fee will not be returned to them.
  • Entries that violate the copyright of a third party or other rights will not be accepted. Should there be an issue between third parties, then the sponsor will bear no responsibility whatsoever.
  • The artists of winning entries will retain copyright over them, however the sponsor reserves the right to use them in advertisement for the Asia Illustrations Collections free of charge.
  • The artist of winning entries will retain copyright over them, however they do not have the right to publish the Asia Illustrations Collections as their own work.
  • Please refrain from entering submissions that would infringe upon public morals and ethics.
  • The first screening for illustrations to be included in the Asia Illustrations Collections will be conducted by the Asia Illustrations Collections Executive Committee. The second stage will be judged by a special panel.
  • The sponsor reserves the right to suspend the contest without prior notice in the event of an unavoidable occurrence such as a natural disaster during which continuing the contest is deemed difficult.
  • Should the entry conditions be deemed inadequate, the sponsor reserves the right to change them without prior notice.
  • Should the personal information supplied by the entrant be deemed inadequate, the sponsor reserves the right to disqualify the entrant. Furthermore, the sponsor has no obligation to notify the entrant in such a case.
  • The entrant agrees to allow the sponsor and/or co-sponsors to use their personal information in the operation of the Asia Illustrations Collections.
  • The sponsor and/or co-sponsors reserve the right to use personal information in assisting with their creative activities.
  • The entrant agrees that they have fully read all the entry terms and conditions.

The Asia Illustrations Collections Project will only use signatures received from entrants.

Q&A Form

Q1. Does my face have to be in the photo?
A: We would prefer it if your face were in the photo. If for some reason, you are unable to have your face in the picture, then please at least have a part of your body in it e.g. your hands, head, etc.

Q2. Do I use my real name or my pen name for the collection?
A: You can choose whether you want to use your real name or pen name on the form.

Q3. What happens if I win, but the size of my original work doesn't adhere to the designated requirements (72.5 x 60.5 cm)?
A: If it doesn't fit our guidelines, then send in the original at its maximum size and at a resolution of 300 dpi (JPG).

Q4. Is the entry fee compulsory? What will it be used for?
A: It will be used for the collections project.
1. Expenses for publishing the collections (editing, design, marketing, etc.)
2. Costs for opening exhibitions (venue, layout, curation, operation, etc.)
*The sponsor will bear the cost for the venue if it is insufficient.

Q5. Can I enter if my work is hand-drawn on paper?
A: Yes, you may. Scan it and convert it to a digital file. Then enter it in the form.
(We have a required size for submissions, so we recommend using editing software to adjust it.)
