I submitted this fake cover as a entry for an amateur art contest in a Facebook group of Brazilian fans of Beetle Bailey (in Brazil, Beetle Bailey is known as "Recruta Zero"). The guest judge was Primaggio Mantovi, a retired Italian-Brazilian comic book artist who worked as art and creative director in two big Brazilian publishers in 1970s and 1980s, RGE ( Rio Gráfica Editora, where he was editor of many comic books starring King Features and Harvey Comics characters) and Editora Abril (where he was art editor of comic books starring Disney characters). In the words of the judge this illustrations was: "Too professional for an amateurish contest!". 142 drawings were submitted for the contest and this illustrations was 9th place.
