BLACK DEATH - Plague Doctor:
-stick = used as a “social distancing object” (for keeping a distance from infected & to examine patients)
-lavender & mint plant/leaf = used to ward off the miasma from the dead
-mask = used to place herbs in their mask for warding off miasma
-Red Cross = written on the doors of the infected
-black splotches on arms = buboes of the infected (not actually located on the arms)
TUBERCULOSIS - Pale Girl:
-Pale complexion = a physical symptom from the infection
-girl = Victorian Era romanticized the disease because it created the pale look which matched the beauty standard at the time
-lungs = the TB infection of the lungs
-red splotches = a physical symptom from the skin TB (5mm+)
LEPROSY - Cloaked figure:
-lumps on hands = physical skin symptoms
-darken void face = victims were heavily disfigured of the face because of the disease
-old man look = one of the oldest diseases from human history
