When I was a child, my father was rarely at home. He was always busy with his work, as a chef in a well-known restaurant. I wanted him to have time for me, to spend our day together like my other friends and their dads.
I wanted to gain his attention and started cooking. Yet the dishes always ended up being too sweet.
One day, I made an onigiri and make sure it tasted salty this time. He ate it and told me that it was too sweet to his liking.
Feeling dejected, I attempted to make a new one but the result was still the same. I wanted to outdo my father in what he did best, which is cooking...
And so, my mother encouraged me to make sweets instead and so I began to delve into the world of desserts.
