Yato from the anime Noragami is a minor Japanese god who dreams of becoming famous and having his own shrine. He does odd jobs for 5 yen and hides his true identity as a former God of Calamity. Despite his goofy, carefree attitude, Yato has a dark past filled with violence and regrets. Over time, through his bonds with Hiyori and Yukine, he tries to leave that past behind and become a better god—one who protects rather than destroys.
