Submission for the PRINCETON
Each design so far has a magic element (bunny ears, winged shoes, butterflies), so I wanted to continue that. I wanted to have the stylus like a magic wand that renders your wished illustration, A fairy seemed a good fit.
I associate pastel pink with ballerinas, from tutus and shoes to a sweater I had as a little girl. Ballerinas are also graceful and delicate like fairies, which worked too.
I tried to mimic the style of the original designs, while also letting my own voice out. The trickiest part was coloring for me. I picked colors from the original illustrations to keep everything unified. Actually, the hardest part was losing the stylus to my tablet halfway through-- I could really use an active stylus now! My computer is much slower now that my tablet, but I did find a substitute.
