When they were younger, Hiroshi Tsubase and his younger sister Sakura were fascinated by the Kintsuyuurei- a race of spirits, as their favorite storybook foretold, that laced the scares of their past with gold. Now that the two are teens, they're way too cool to read children's stories...that is, until an accident leaves Hiroshi alone, left to navigate the world by himself. Yet in the midst of his pain, Hiroshi's childhood comes crashing back as he makes an unexpected new friend named Mayumi, who has golden scars on her face.
