In this story, Nogard and his brother Rudy live a peaceful village life until marauders attack their home. While Rudy helps their mother escape, Nogard stays behind to fight. He witnesses the death of his father and the devastation of their village. After collapsing in grief, Nogard wakes up surrounded by the dead and finds a red cloth clutched by a fallen child, which he turns into a headband as a symbol of his vow for revenge. Joined by an old man and a young girl, Nogard embarks on a journey to train and seek justice against the marauders.
