  • I don’t shade my art to often, but when I do, I like to use natural light colors. If it’s morning, use dark blues, maybe some purple undertones, and pale yellow and deep orange for light. If it’s night, maybe use pale blues and silvers. Also, climate matters! If the setting is winter, use pale, more gray lighting. If it’s a bright summer day, use lots of strong yellow and gold. A good thing to keep in mind is other surfaces in your setting that might reflect light. If there are some leaves nearby, they might reflect some light onto your character or art subject. I hope this helps! I really don’t shade a lot, so I dunno how much of this works. I’m just typing what I think sounds useful :p

  • > Kdragonair k! Thx!

  • Literally anything, sometimes some colours work better than others so I just use the ones that work best with what i'm doing

Does anyone-

Does anyone else just like to draw a sketch, then stop. Then just go draw another sketch. I have like sketches for all my drawings, i just don't want to do then. (i will tho, i working on all of them)

  • Yes! A good 60 to 70% of my entire gallery is sketches. Like, I make one, then get another “new shiny idea” and make that one. After doing this like four times, I quit and try to get my eyes back to normal. Due to this “process”, I will often take an unfinished sketch, and just edit that crap into something else. Kinda like a premade sketch idea.

  • Me, reading this post: pffft, no way, I never have unfinished sketches- Me, looking at my gallery: ...ok, so this might be me...

Heheheh

Should i do commissions? My parents think that nobody would buy them. Now obviously I need to get better at art, so i would do commissions sometime next year. I am also going to be doing a series of adopts (fruit themed) I just posted one. My contest is still going on to create me a fursona (the deadline is the end of October), so if you guys want to join you can go to that post, read the details, and comment there. Ummmmmmmm... yeah thats all i had to say.

  • > monrura Thanks! I think ill start some when im a little bit older.

  • You guys are talking to ur parents about commisions lmao, mine don't even know I draw I think you should try commisions when you're confident in your art, if you think you're ready for commisions go for it! And, tell your parents that not only are you earning your own money by doing this, you also get the taste of what it would be like to have commisions as one of your main sources of income in the future and if you want to pursue that. Good luck if you do decide to open them!

  • > CoffiiBean Maybe? Lol, idk yet

  • If people are willing, then I say open them! My parents made me permanently close my commissions because I am not professional enough to do them and my art is not good enough, but I say go for it!

Is it just me-

Every time i pick up a pencil and paper, and start drawing. I always think there is a undo button on the pencil (I have a button on my computer pen programmed to be undo) Or if you draw with ur finger you hit the place on the paper, where the undo button is. Please tell me its not just me.

  • > FÄDEE Yh. Its .h. a. r. d.

  • Na, it's not just you. I do it too. I draw digitally so much that each time I switch to analog I have to "reconfigure" my brain. If I don't I'll try to hit undo button every time. LOL 😂😂
