What is the Kyoto International Creators Award
“Digital Anime Contest”?

The Kyoto International Creators Award is an international contest designed for aspiring creators of manga, anime, etc. to debut their works at Kyoto, Japan. There are two "Open Theme" contests, the Comic Contest and the Animation Contest.

*Invitations are open to those residing in Japan only.

The results will be announced in October, and the winners of the Grand Prize, the Excellence Award, and the Special Jury Award will be invited to the award ceremony in Kyoto in November!

The organizer will cover round-trip transportation expenses and accommodation fees (for one person per prize)!

For winners living overseas, we will send traditional souvenirs from Kyoto as a replacement for the invitation to the award ceremony.

Junko Jinbo

Chief of Kodansha's Cinema Creators' Lab. Joined the company in 1987 after working as an editor of women's and literary magazines.
She then became head of the Literary Publishing Department, working as the editor-in-chief of the magazines Mephisto and With.
Later as the head of the Business Strategy Department, Public Relations and Corporate Planning Department, and Rights Management, she became involved in the launch and operation of Kodansha's e-book businesses and other web media.
Jinbo is also a member of the Japan Publisher Club's Library Committee.

Purpose of the contest
We will provide a venue for the presentation of personal anime works, promote them widely to the public, and promote their quality improvement.
Solicited works
An independently produced original video work whose main parts were created using a computer.
Work regulations
Works that can be submitted
・Works that have been submitted to other contests can also be submitted.
・Not only 3D, but also 2D and hand-drawn digital animation.
・You can apply from overseas, but you must be able to communicate in Japanese.
・It doesn't matter what model or software you use.
・There is no limit to the length of the work. However, extremely long works (more than 30 minutes) may be at a slight disadvantage in the judging process.
Works that cannot be submitted
・Commercial works or works created based on paid requests from outside parties cannot be submitted.
(There is no problem with the sales level at doujinshi sales events, etc.)
・Applications containing only still images are not accepted.
・Works that are interactive and whose content changes depending on the operation cannot be submitted.
remarks
・The main part of the image must be created on a PC.
(Just drawing it on paper, importing it into a PC, and editing it is not considered CG.) There is no problem if your submission includes live-action footage (including clay animation, etc.), but that part will not be subject to review.
・If there is footage that is confusing to be CG (drawings on paper, live-action clay animation, etc.), please explain it in the work description on the application form. You may be excluded from the examination.
・There is no problem with using images that utilize AI, but please clearly state where and how AI was utilized in the "Work Description/PR" section. We will actively evaluate works that seem to utilize AI well with unique ideas.
・When submitting works with dialogue from overseas, Japanese subtitles are required.
Qualification Requirements
Professionals or those aiming to become professionals. There is no problem for amateurs as well as professionals as long as it is an independent production (work produced privately).

・After uploading your application to YouTube, Vimeo, etc., you will be asked to enter information about your application.

Examination policy
・We will evaluate works that have gained wide and strong support from viewers and make them think, "I want to make digital animation myself!"
・The main points of judging are overall entertainment, theme, story, CG technology, visual sense, artistry, originality, passion, effort, and completeness.
Examination outcome
・In addition to the official website, it will be widely announced on various media.
・Applicants will be notified separately by email.
Regarding payment of prize money
Prizes will be communicated to the email address you registered at the time of application. (The fees will be borne by the winner.)
Notes (copyright, etc.)
・The copyright of the submitted work belongs to the creator.
・However, the winning works may be screened at "Selected Work Screenings" by the organizing organization and third parties approved by them, and may also be distributed and broadcast on the Internet, TV, etc.
・Similarly, the above organizations will screen, broadcast, record, reproduce, distribute, sell, edit, translate, process, etc. within the scope related to the "Digital Anime Contest" etc. With respect to these, the copyright holder shall not exercise any copyright against the above organizations.
・Please be careful not to infringe on the copyrights of third parties regarding BGM, designs, etc. All troubles caused by infringing a third party's copyright are the responsibility of the applicant and creator.
・In particular, if you are using existing music as BGM, we may ask you to replace it with other music.
・No listing fees are required.
