This is a winter oil landscape on canvas inspired by Alaska, depicting snowy mountains and trees. I incorporated pastel colors to create a still and peaceful setting. A gradient purple wash, followed by a palette knife was used to create the plains in the mountains. I also utilized the palette knife to assist in layering paint, naturally providing the illusion of texture. In the foreground, gentle brushstrokes were used to create the small plains in the ground. For the trees and grass, a small fan brush helped to develop the form and texture utilizing a dabbling technique.
