Though the exact origins of Meq'tu are lost, he was raised and trained by shaman, Aman. Referred to as a Teqkwen, a being meant to be in tandem with Aman's greatest creation. He resembles greatly to Aman in his younger years, eluding to an enchantment hiding his true form or Meq'tu has taken on the semblance of his master.
Aman came into Emperor Sharad's father's service an age prior and means of his sorcery comparable to that of the Penumbra, though clearly through forbidden means. Meq'tu has mastery of the abyss to where he can manipulate, necessitate and pass through it and laylines without warding protections.
A truth of Meq'tu is his autonomy. This was the intent of Aman, but whether his submission to the shaman is total has never been tested. The one inkling of independence surfaces when the Prince of Lithavania sets out to intercept Emperor Sharad's army, either drawn to his power or Origin Glyph and Circle of the Enlightened Dragon hastening toward one another.
