He's based on the real life person of Shinsengumi during old Japan. They're samurai, rounins and also non samurai who were organized as a Special Police Force by Bakufu (Military Government). They're actually well known and you might find them in another anime. Speaking of that, in other version of Hajime san~He can predict the Future.
