This is my most treasured piece, I have put a lot of emotions and love into it. I wanted to capture the beautiful and colourful mind of my muse: Kim Sehyoon.
As a person, he seems to have a really unique perspective of the world. His mind is so intriguing.
He overflows with creativity, he expresses it through his words, his art, his dance, his voice.
When I see him dance, I sense his energy and associate it with colours, they are bright, they are loud, they are explosive.
He always strives to become better, see the brighter side of things. I wanted him to glow and stand out.
As an artist, he inspires and motivates me to be more creative.
He's taught me that imperfection can be beautiful too. I have purposely made the piece "messy" to let go of the feeling that it had to be perfect. Like wabi-sabi.
Painting this taught me many things. I've struggled with finding the right balance between bright colours and values for a long time.
This is what colours means to me.
