Lotus collectors have a daunting task. They battle the murky waters and the underwater thickets of the aquatic plants to pick the most premium quality lotus flowers. No matter how tough the job is, it is an adventure. I've seen many kids also doing this work. They could be children of the lotus harvesters and since they are children, they mostly enjoy the work. Playing through the water, inspecting the flowers and going on a collection spree of beautiful lotuses is a fulfilling activity :) In my picture, the young boy surprises the girl with his handful of lotus collection while coming out of the water for a little surprise. The young girl who uses a collector's boat (common in Asia) is happy at her friend's success. Together they are spending a jolly time collecting fresh lotuses to be sold in the flower market.
