A common art exercise I often use as a warm-up in the mornings. The main idea is to place 11 dots randomly onto the paper. Then connect them with a series of lines. That's it. Whether the dots are outlined or colored in, or if there's only one line from each dot to one other dot, or if every dot has to connect to every other, all of that kind of stuff, is up to you.
A way to expand on the exercise is to add color, or to start with an all black surface and do the exercise in negative, using an eraser.
