Crono from the videogame, Chrono Trigger,
well it does got port into other platform later, but never actual remake.
but i think it age well...maybe just me...
give it a try if you can. its simple , direct and fun.
Story telling is direct although there are sometime you need figure out the thing should you decide to do those sidequest. If i recall correctly, i never got stucked and lost once. Dont get the wrong idea, just cause i said simple and direct, the story itslef is actually very good, there are lots of up/down/twist, fantasy themed, but....mmhhhh...okay no spoiler..and the music, god , one of the best. There are varies, different music suit to the different setting, and its very catchy.
