This movie by the company studio ghibli, is a childhood favorite of mine. And it has inspired me by it's simple but memorable style and beautifully written stories. In this certain scene from 'My Neighbor Totoro' it expresses so much to me. It's mysterious setting clashes with the strong presence of totoro and the girls, Mei and Satsuki. Its alluring and combines the dark atsomephere around these girls with the light and joy of totoro and nature. Their mother has fallen ill, and they have moved into new terrain.
So much is happening to these girls and yet they are still so positive. Mei being the youngest has a huge imagination that just ties so well with totoro’s quiet but dashing looking character. Satsuki is the more mature and older sister, but like all kids she has issues and gets pressured. She has fear and is just trying her hardest to take care of her sister and herself.
