This is Vela - an ordinary girl from a poor household in a Slavic town. She hasn't always been a "Kuker Warrior". In fact, in her town it is allowed only for men to be Kukers. What is a Kuker? Well,
a Kuker is a dancer that does different ritual dances that scare evil spirits away.
Evil spirits are not always ominous creatures of darkness with weird features. Contrariwise, evil spirits are all around us - they can be our closest friend, a relative, any person around us - any person's soul that has been trapped by evil, greediness, envy..
