I believe there are a number of powerful spirits anywhere on Earth who protect the nature and all creatures. In the midst of an arid mystical desert, it is such a beautiful place, meanwhile it also gives us a mysterious and lonely vibe. There may be hidden danger and horror there because we cannot know what awaits us in the desert land, which is as wide as the horizon.
Thus, this becomes the concept of this female character who represents the mystical spirit of desert! She can be nice and protective to visitors in desert, yet she can become unpredictably scary and dangerous if someone triggers her anger. Moreover, mystery does not have to be perceived only in a dark or dim atmosphere, but also even sunny places, like desert.
