後にあるのはマコンデ彫刻といいます。
それはアフリカ・タンザニアに住むマコンデ族の作り出した作品のことです。アフリカの大地が生み出したといってもいい生命力ある彫像で、時にユーモラスでありミステリアスでもあります。農作業の様子や飢餓、病などの作品もあり子育てをする母の姿などに心を打たれます。
時代や場所が変わっても、人が願うもの、恐れるものには普遍の共通点があるのだな、と思いました。
