In a city of black & white, I'm thinking of the warm tones of sepia that brings back memories of home.
(City life is mundane and straightforward as you go through the same routine everyday so black & white is used. Sepia is often seen on old photos and the color gives a warm, nostalgic feeling.
The Artist is reminiscing on their younger days when they used to live in the countryside with simpler life and happier times. I feel that drawing the scene from your own memory is more meaningful, it shows how much you cherish that moment. Younger's hand holding a Sunflower that brings 'brightness'.
Also, the artist's gender and face is not shown here because this can happen to anyone, both male and female who are struggling to work in the city after moving out of their hometown. And with covid-19 situation going on, they would have to wait even longer to visit their home.)
Stay strong so that you can one day visit your family that's waiting for you to come home.
