Pax Dêh Codex is a BK, a Bookkeeper, or, in the technical language of Order, a Field Clerk. The BKs are in charge of recording and protecting the trail of humanity, fighting the Wizards and Sorcerers of the Order of the Grand Masters (GM), and guarding all the knowledge acquired by civilization, even after it has been forgotten by history. The Bookkeepers are alchemists, and the Grand Masters, their ancient masters and now enemies, powerful magicians.
But Pax does not know his history, much less his destiny. Raised since he was a boy in several houses, he never knew his parents and never fit into the rigid society of the BKs, becoming an outcast within the Order, but a great future awaits him.
