Once upon a time, there was an evil villain that Celestia and Luna had to fight. Once they defeated them, they decided to put their magic in an orb that was only to be used for emergencies. After that, Celestia and Luna died and Twilight Sparkle became the ruler of equestria. One day, Twilight discovered that she was expecting a baby. Suddenly, the castle was under attack. She ended up having to use the magic. Afterwards, the magic lingered until she had her baby. The baby, whom she named Eclipsa, contained the power. She had to be protected from the outside world so she grew lonely and ended up not being very good at understanding social cues. The only times she would meet other people were at princess events like parties and stuff.
