As a Korean American, I thought it'd be cool to combine both Korean and US cultures by referencing traditional Korean "talchum" (mask dance) performers and western clowns/jesters. Talchum performers also have a cool history of not only being sacred ritual performers but later being a source of entertainment/stress relief for the common/peasant class as it would allow them to express their judgement and emotions against the corrupt ruling class without social repercussion.
