He's a faerie soldier who's wings were torn off by humans, and holds a grudge against them. He's the leader of a group of forest warriors, and with Oleander Heartbleed and Guerret Virosa (a faerie and redcap)as his second and third in command. While Guerret and Oleander are more unhinged and violent, Nightshade is more calm and strategic. In the end, the 3 form a trio that sticks together, and is always there for one another. ( He'll play a more antagonistic role in The Enchanted Bond before meeting having a change of heart.)
