「貴婦人と一角獣」という美術作品をご存知でしょうか？アニメ・ガンダムユニコーンに登場していたので覚えているかたもいるかも知れません。これは15世紀末に作られた６枚のタペストリーです。誰がどんな目的で作らせたものなのか、色々な説があり謎の多い名画でもあります。そのうち5枚は五感を表しているそうです。「触覚」「味覚」「嗅覚」「聴覚」「視覚」。そして6枚目には「我が唯一の望み」と描かれています。五感を超えた望みというのは、何なんでしょうね？
