The Coquí is the national animal of the island of Puerto Rico. This little tree frog distinguishes itself from other frogs by the sound of its cry, which goes "Koh-kee, hence the name of it in Spanish.
It can usually be heard at night in more rural areas of island, nearing the mountainous area in the center of Puerto Rico. Furthermore, the cry of the coquí is a precious sound to all Puerto Ricans since it's the sound of "home" for many who happen to live abroad.
