I've had this want to make and design a pokemon-style game around the time of recently.
On the left is test designs for how to design characters using little proportions, I decided to go for 4-tone plus transparacy, may possibly try 5-tone so there's black and white in combination to a 3 shades of a main colour.
in the middle is a test on how simplistic designs could be interpratated, and right to that is a little creature for size comparison. With the exception of the little creature, these were just testing doodles, the character doesn't have anything set about them.
