Since Cachusa and Miriam were forced to leave her protection, Adriana had attempted to put in motion her influence created by Engel through Lumas Interlo. The Penumbra Hunts had made connecting with the outside impossible, as well as the loss of House Dianisia, something she could not help but feel a familiar grief and guilt for. After her elderdaughter and great elderdaughter left her, Adriana bore her worries well compared to her daughter. As her mental reach extends further than any known Penumbra, she was able to still feel them, however slight. When this was lost, Adriana would seek them out before Costache's embarked search.
Learning of their trials, Adriana would go on to not learn of Bal Hora, but the true motives behind them. She would come close to discovering who controlled them beyond Vladmir, but only led to a trap against powerful undead.
