Here’s some info about each historical figure! 👇🏾
1. Carter G. Woodson (1875 - 1950) was an American historian, author, journalist, and was the second African American to receive a doctorate at Harvard. He is also known as the “father of black history” since he launched the precursor to Black History Month in 1926 (back then, it was only a week that was celebrated in February).
2. Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges (1745 - 1799) was a French classical composer, violinist, and even conducted the leading symphony orchestra in Paris. As you could probably guess from his title, he was also an acclaimed fencer.
3. Katherine Johnson (1918 - 2020) was an American mathematician. A couple missions that her calculations of orbital mechanics at NASA helped perpetuate were the Friendship 7 mission and the more famous Apollo 11 moon landing.
