Soo kinda edgy but I'm thinking she's dead, lmao, hear me out- but she's still walking around and thinking in talking despite that she has no pulse and her body is slowly degrading like a dead body would (she does her best to keep it in good condition). She can't remember who she was before she died or even how she died, hence her "name" Jane Doe, or she calls herself that, because, y'know- a Jane Doe is an unidentified female dead body.
Anyways I explained that very poorly but that's her concept I think
