so my irl friend named caleb used to go by catherine, and one of my student teachers names is katherine, but we call her katherine [last name]. caleb now goes to another class and left before changing their name. someone asked why we still called our student teacher with her last name and my teacher brought up my friend. i said "hey they dont go by catherine, their deadname, anymore, they go by caleb" and my teacher deadass asked why
