im doing an art class with my mom cos we thought it might be fun (it's not but that's besides the point) and we were out drawing together and my brother was there too and generally whenever i make art near my brother and something doesn't look the way i want it to I'll go "oh i don't like that" and he'll get super pissy and be like "it's art it doesn't matter how it looks!!" (i get the sentiment but it gets really really annoying) but i said that i didn't like how my drawing for my class looked and he started to say "it doesn't matter" but then he went "oh this is for a grade? yeah it looks bad then"
WHAT??? HUH???? im so mad. he basically said that if you're doing art for a class then it's invalid and doesn't count as art. that's not how this shit works, you don't get to pick and choose what can be described as "art" just because it's being made for a specific purpose. and that purpose being trying to learn something and genuinely improve your art? how is that bad in any way? i don't fucking get it. my brother has the actual most shit takes about art i have ever heard and im fucking sick of hearing them.
how does making art for a grade make it not valid? what the fuck?

it's an ARG (alternate reality game), but it's very simple and laid back since i didn't wanna make anything too difficult for my first try.
it was mostly just made to explore the characters' personal stories and growth, so i could get to know them better.
i want to release it before july. which means it should come in the next week.

it's a very real problem and i find it in a lot of places. like don't get me wrong i find myself doing this with the shit i like, I'll make unnecessary references to my characters or like shorts wars and allat, i genuinely hate that I do it but i still keep doing it anyways
but like i hate it when people "get x vibes" from stuff that doesn't relate to x at all and they're just making shit up.
one good example of this is my brother, who will consistently whenever we're watching anything label every character he can as plural just because he's plural himself (i genuinely can't tell idk if you're supposed to be able to). even if it makes no sense. like we were talking about shorts wars yesterday and he was like "dude what if riggy was just plural and he imagined preston the whole time!1!!1!!!" EVEN THOUGH THATS PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE??? preston got into beef with cdot so deep they physically fought each other, he LEGALLY MARRIED BAM, and he also KILLED THE BOSS which would definitely not have happened if riggy was actually the one behind it the whole time.
like i get it if you're interested in a specific media so much that you have to make references any chance you get, but just please make it make sense???
again im not gonna pretend i don't do this myself, i hate that i do and i try not to. but like maybe consider that making constant references and claims about certain media can get really annoying? especially if it's really hard to make the connection or blatantly untrue??
also i won't even lie my brother did also say preston/fd could be plural and i agreed with him because that just made sense, but now im 90% sure that was just a lucky guess he made because if you start accusing every character under the sun of being plural then you're gonna get at least one right.

im sorry I haven't been posting here as much, i have been super busy working on my secret project (LITERALLY WILL BE DONE THIS SUMMER I PROMISE) and i also got a tumblr (linked on my strawpage) but because of that it's gotten harder for me to juggle 3 social medias so i pretty much stopped posting topics here
im sure I'm gonna keep vent posts limited to here, and ill keep posting my normal drawings, and im sure when art fight comes around ill post about it more here than on bluesky/tumblr (my user is ramun3 follow me 🤑)
im not leaving, i am considering it but i think for now im gonna just be a little less active here. im still gonna post regular drawings, just not many topics, and i tend to post more traditional stuff on tumblr anyways so you might as well check it out!

IVE BEEN TWEAKING FOR THE ENTIRE DAY. this morning was the fanart episode of the rumble pack podcast and my art got in it!!! a ton of people who I am deeply inspired by also got in and we are all collectively freaking out.
