Actually I am starting to hate the name Minna. My name-game is the worst!
About her skills; they are powered by Chi (or some kind of internal force) unlike normal beings that are based around Mana. Chi here is a force that strengthens the body and can be moved around to maximize output. A monk can block steel weapons with their body and punch with a force much greater than any normal person. Chi also heals wounds and broken bones very quickly and makes the user very sturdy against sicknesses.
So why wouldn't everyone use Chi?
Because it has a very unqique property: It corrodes metals. That is why a monk will rarely use weapons and armor. Wood weapons are useable, but they cannot last long enough against high end weapons such as mithril. Monks therefore specialize in immobilzing and disarming opponents, which is best done without having to worry about weapons.
Even if a monk would be able to be fully armed, a fighter will almost always deal more damage.
