地元の図書館で「エッシャー不思議のヒミツ」という新刊を見つけたので、さっそく借りてきました。エッシャーの作品は子供のころから大好きです。不思議で緻密で美しくワクワクさせてくれます。
エッシャーの作品が科学者、数学者に愛されていることは知ってはいました。それ以外に1960年代のヒッピーたちに広く人気があったそうです。ドラックによる幻想体験を描いたとヒッピーたちは思っていたのでしょう。エッシャーはそのことに嫌悪感を抱いていました。ミックジャガーからアルバムのジャケットを依頼されたこともあったのですが、エッシャーは断っています。興味深い話と思いました。
I found a new book called "Escher behind the paradox " in the local library, so I borrowed it right away. I've loved Escher's works since I was a child. It's strange, precise, beautiful and exciting.
I knew that Escher's work was loved by scientists and Mathematician. Other than that, it seems that it was widely popular among hippies in the 1960s. The hippies must have thought that they had drawn a fantasy experience by drugs. Escher was disgusted with that. He was once asked by Mick Jagger for a cover of the album, but Escher refused. I thought it was an interesting story.
