The months of July and August in Japan are marked by the famous summer festivals, celebrations that take place throughout the country. These celebrations make the hot, humid Japanese summer nights more enjoyable and often feature game stalls and street food. Furthermore, it is common to see people wearing yukata, a lighter and more casual type of kimono, made especially for this season of the year. Some of these festivals are called Hanabi Taikai (花火大会), or “fireworks festivals” and attract crowds to admire these fireworks displays.
