Frostbite's backstory Chapter 2
So I found a writing app for my kindle so I was finally able to write. Btw this isn't in Frostbite's or North's perspective. In fact this character will become much more important later on.
A dragon weaved through the small town of possibility. A tattered cloak covering his deep blue scales, was thrown over his shoulders, hiding a tan satchel around his neck. He held his seafoam wings close to his body, trying to quickly move through the crowds of dragons.
He looked up at the rising sun that lightened the black sky. A gasp escaped his jaw as he tried to rush through the tight alleyways between the buildings. He was late. He's never been late before. Why did he have to start now?I
With a sigh of relief, he saw that the small building where he worked was still closed. The deep blue seawing hurried on inside. As he opened the door he saw a big sandwing with spectacles resting on her rough scarred face. A scroll was held open in her talons (most likely she was reading it) and her glittering black eyes were staring dead in his eyes.
"You're late," she said with no hint of emotion.
" I-Im so sorry. I just- things were- there was- uh... " he stammered, unable to look at her.
"You were supposed to be here 30 minutes ago! Shop is about to open," she hissed, flickering her tongue.
"It won't happen again!"
"It better not Cobalt or I'll fire you!"
"But you can't do that! I'm the only one in the area wi -"
"Just because you have your little powers doesn't mean you can do anything. I still have the scroll and I could give someone else powers of I wanted!" She interrupted , "So don't thing you have any power over me. I can always do away with you if I want to."
"Understood," he replied, dipping his head in respect.
"Now get to work. Shop's open," she growled, getting up from his desk.
Cobalt silently did as told and walked to his desk. ' To bad she has that scroll because I'd already be head of this shop's he thought, fiddling with a coin.
One by one, customers rolled in. All asking for different powers or enchanted items.
"Enchant this bowl to have an endless supply of food"
"Enchant this bracelet to give me the ability to control plants"
"Enchant this necklace so I can read minds"
"Enchant this"
"Enchant that"
"I want! I want! I want! " is all Cobalt has been hearing.
If he had a choice he wouldn't be in this situation. If he had a choice, he would use his powers to make himself a legend. If he had a choice to even choose how long he stayed he would have been gone. But he has no choice. Not only does the constant fear of losing his soul haunt his mind, but that scroll prevents him from ever leaving possibility of using his powers for something besides business purposes. You'd think a place called possibility you'd get a choice.
Then all of a sudden, a glowing white jewel was dropped on his desk. Immediately his eyes widened. The jewel was nothing like he'd ever seen. The colours were constantly shifting between white, sky blue, and seafoam while a strange aura radiated from it.
He looked up to see who the strange dragon was that dropped it only to see a familiar freckled Icewing.
"Why is it non other than Frostbite herself!" Cobalt chuckled, "What would you like?"
"The power to instantly freeze my enemies with the touch of a talon," she said, pushing up two brass wristbands, "Oh and I want any Nightwings I touch to feel an excruciating pain while they slowly freeze to death."
"Well that's mighty specific."
"How else am I supposed to avenge Snowstorm? I don't have fire and I don't want fire," she hissed.
"Well alright. But first tell me about this jewel," he said grasping his talons around the treasure.
"That is non of your concern. All you need to know is that it's yours as long as you give me my enchantment," she hissed taking the jewel out of his talons.
"O-okay you'll get your enchantment! Just please tell me where you Found this?" He said greedily.
"Found a bunch near my hut, hurried deep under the snow. Looked cool so I kept it," she said.
Cobalt knew there was more that she was holding back, but he didn't feel like losing the unusual pearly jewel. He already had a close call for making her say that bit.
"My enchantment?" she hissed impatiently
"Alright alright," he said taking the wristbands, "Enchant these wristbands so that the wearer has the ability to freeze any foe with the touch of a talon," he said, reaching for the jewel
"Aaannnnddd?"
"And if the victim is a Nightwing they have a terrible excruciating slow painfull death," Cobalt sighed reluctantly.
"Ha now I'll be even more formidable. No one can get in my way!" She said excitedly putting on the wristbands after putting down the jewel, "Now all I have to do is put these on that plate you gave me and I'll have wristbands for all Icewings!"
It's moments like this that a dragon really begins to question the choices he's made in life. Because he may have just given the Icewings a power, powerful enough to completely change the tides of this war, just for a jewel.
