The birds started chirping and singing as the morning came. Sunlight flickered off the dew that lay on the grass and caused sparkling patterns on the metal weapons that rested against a tree. Bramble squinted and yawned, sitting up. Cavar was still asleep, while Minka had started reheating the fire. “G'morning Bramble.” She said, her bright blue eyes flicking over to him. He nodded in response, and glanced at where Kia should be. “Where’s the new girl?” Bramble asked, looking back at Minka. She froze. “I-I thought she was… wait.. Bramble! What if she ran off?” The blonde haired girl turned to face him, worry glistening in her eyes. He stood up. “She’ll come back. they always do.”
Minka stared, “Dont be so sure. This girl is different,” she stated, going back to the fire.
“If she left, she left. We didn’t need her anyway.” Cavar’s voice made Minka and Bramble whip around to where the oldest boy’s mat was. “She was cute, sure, but she couldn’t shoot a bow to save her life.” He stated, leaning against the tree his mat was placed next to. Suddenly, an arrow shot out of the far bushes that surrounded the camp and landed an inch above Cavar’s head. Minka yelped with surprise and shot around to face the bushes. Bramble turned and stared at the plants as well. His face was hot with annoyance as Cavar stood up and stormed towards where the arrow appeared from. “Show yourself!” He demanded, standing tall with Minka and Bramble flanking him. Kaia rose out of the brush with a smirk on her face. “Why good morning, Cavar.” She said sarcastically. “Did I miss you? Oh. What a shame. I guess your right. I cant shoot a bow to save my life.” Her voice was thick with fake innocence as she walked past the three and sat down on her mat she shared with Minka. She had two fresh rabbits in her leather pack along with a pheasant. Silent, she started skinning the bird.
