GUH- LONG POST ABOUT ANIMATED WEBSERIES'

Longest post I've ever made on any social media type site but I am so passionate about indie animation it's a wonder why I'm pursuing music instead of that, but I digress.

YouTube is in like a Golden Era for animated webseries' again and I'm fucking elated. It takes me back to when shows like Eddsworld, object shows and the like had VERY active and growing fandoms in the art community. But I'm not going to talk about the current big shows like Helluva Boss or TADC, etc. (great shows, but everyone already knows about them yk) I've seen a LOT of show pilots pop up during recent months but there are two in particular that really caught my eye and I just think they're really cool and they deserve a lot more recognition than they currently do.

GODSPEED and Monkey Wrench. Oh my GOD please check these two out if you ever have the time.

GODSPEED by Olan Rogers is still in it's pilot, but the art style and the world is incredibly interesting to me. It follows a woman named Iris and her robot buddy Bowie (love me some silly robot companions) and is set in a post-apocalyptic world that is falling apart. It's also a sci-fi. The tone leans more serious but it's not too serious, just know that it's not a happy show and the show is not afraid to have some dark implications (though this impression is purely from the pilot since it's the only thing out right now.) The vibes are everything to me, I want more serious animated shows in cool worlds so if that's something you're also interested in, PLEASE watch the pilot.

Monkey Wrench by Zeurel is also sci-fi but a lot sillier. The art style is cool, the voice acting is fun, THE CHARACTER DESIGNS!!!!, and the humor is a bit absurdist/LOL random type humor but it's done in moderation and it gives me RoTTMNT vibes so if that's your thing it's worth checking out. I've only watched the first episode so far and my only critique really is the action fight scenes sometimes has too much anticipation and feels slow, and the quiet music + lack of dialogue makes the fight scenes a little awkward sometimes. But that could change. Again, I've only watched the first episode and the team can definitely keep improving as the show goes on. All in all, I still think it's a really well animated, funny show.

Bonus show/pilot! There's also Long Gone Gulch, which is NOT recent, as the pilot was released THREE years ago. I haven't checked it out myself but I remember my brother was really into it when the pilot first came out so I will probably get to it sooner or later. You can go ahead and watch that too if you're interested, I only know that it's cowboy/wild west setting, and knowing my brother's tastes, it's probably on the goofier side as well.

ANYWAY, I have shit to do. I have some art that I need to finish TODAY because of a goal that I set for myself and I only JUST started working on it yesterday so... wish me luck, WATCH THESE SHOWS. You don't have to like em but y'know, check em out at least. I will fuck off now.
