“Emuu is a creator spirit of a particular animal or a plant species (and sometimes inanimate things can have emuus too). Each species had its own emuu. The word itself comes from proto Finno-Ugric words emä/emo, which can be translated as “mother”. Albeit, emuu isn´t always strictly connected to one or any gender.“
I’ve never found a suitable translation for a menninkäinen. Closest one might be a gnome, but idk. They are forest fey and they tend to dislike the sunlight.
