Without her Penumbra companion, Rema has been lost in a fundamental way as well as having to manage the changes and symptoms that come with becoming an Umbra. To distract herself, Rema has become a dancer of her family gypsy troupe, she and her mother now living among them for a welcome change, distance from old memories and precaution if Penumbra Hunters were aware of their association with the Gavrielles. Rema's only concern is that they are safe and will find them one day.
In the meantime, she is keeping her promise by continuing her self-education and learning how to practice swordplay without Miriam. By surprise chance, it would be Magnolia that would reveal an old form of dance that was used for ceremony and self-defense, one with a blade.
