does medi level up drawings based on skill or is it popularity? ive seen some people with crazy skilled artwork that gets like a lvl 1 and it made me wonder

The level up thingy is a bit weird/unfair/confusing- Ash explains it well. Medi says to level up you have to get a certain amount of likes and such, but I'm 100% sure there's something ELSE you need, Anime Art- *cri* I've had a drawing with like 1000 views and lotsa likes and it STAYED LEVEL 3- After a while, one of my drawings randomly leveled up to LEVEL 4, I was so confused because the likes and favs and views were.. well.. like what I ALWAYS get! But it leveled up.. I'm sure there's either an actual person looking at the art thinking if it's Anime-Worthy or not, or there's a robot scanning the art and thinking the same thing. (probably the latter-) But yeah, if you're drawing gets lots of views and likes but it doesnt level up to over 3, don't be too sad, we've ALL been there XD- It's when you kinda realize that the level-up thingy is really unfair and confusing
It's based on popularity (the amount of favourites, likes, views, and comments the post gets) However it doesn't matter because Medibang only favors highly detailed anime art, like seriously go look at any level 6 or 7, it's all anime art with VERY few exceptions, and from what I've seen, any artists who have a rank lose their rank (Kdragonair is a friend I would consider her, but she use to have a gold rank but lost it) the level up system for medibang is cruelly unfair, I (and lots of other artists) have gotten more likes and stuff than the requirement to get a level 6 or 7 yet those posts never made it past 3
It surely depends on how much popularity it gains, but (if you don't already know) I've read that it reaches level 1 after like 3 days, level 2 after a week, level 3 after 2 weeks... So if the drawing you're talking about has been posted some days ago it's normal Ig ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
