> Abyssal Yoma Hahaha that made me laugh- I must be brave cuz that's how I open coffee lol Thank you so much for the feedback! I'm glad you found so much positive to appreciate tr e in this one!
Well it might be out of season now, but I'm always down for fall! The layered effects on the background and such look good, there's a lot of texture to look at over the empty space. And I don't know if it was intended, but it kinda looks like the bg is a low angled shot of a tree lined path imposed over the character, which does bring to mind the classic scenes that autumn stuff is set it. As for the char, I kinda like how you did the dark green of the scarf with small hatches instead of a more solid color line, it makes it look more "woven" I guess. Also, they're brave to open a hot cup like that.
Just dropping by to say that this is a nice alternate cover piece! The colors are good, and the chibis are cute!
> Abyssal Yoma Thank you! I consider that the absolute highest praise I could have hoped for, since digging into their characters, understanding them and letting the story develop from their interactions was my goal!! I definitely will keep working on understanding them- it's my weak spot! I'm really grateful for the feedback, seriously, you really took time and thought about it. I'm so happy with your comments and I will keep improving for my next one!!!
I think you did a good job with balancing Kaylah's personality, and by that I mean, she's having those feeling of wanting to withdraw from everyone, but yet she's not an exaggerated mess of it. Like, she's still able to have normal talks with Shinji, but once a line is crossed, she switches to that mode in a way that makes sense. Really, the interactions with her and Shinji are pretty nice to read, and Shinji himself makes mistakes and acts selfishly, he's not just perfect and likeable all the time. But yeah, given that the focus was mainly on those two, their writing turned out well. The only "advice" to give would just to be keep your understanding of these characters, because I know how tough it is to write for chars that you can't get inside the head of as the author. Other than that, write what you want, and have fun with it. I'm not much of an authority, but I at least don't see any issues here. It'll be exciting to see what comes next!
> masumi the idiot THANK YOU YOU BEAUTIFUL PERSON YOU IM GLAD YOU READ IT THA K YOU
This is absolutely amazing! I love every part of this! the art is amazing, it turned out better than i thought it would, LOL! the story is amazing and had me glued to my screen, frantically scrolling, just caught up in the intensity of it all! Amazing!!!!!! im so stinking proud of you!!!!!!!!
> Abyssal Yoma Hahaha, I feel the same way about punk stuff! It always captures my heart lol and I went super light on the punk here cuz its such a bright drawing but I'm glad you liked the chain! Thank you for your feedback!!! I love darker colors too, I feel like my colors are all over the place from work to work because I havent done it much. Still trying to consolidate my manga style and my color style. I think my manga right now is pretty peppy tho haha Sorry to hear about your tablet, that really sucks! I hope you can get it fixed soon, but in the meantime yeah just posting discussions is a great idea! I will wait patiently for your next work until you have a working tablet again!
You had me at the chain loop tied to her belt! Haha, but really, put any amount of punk style into something and I'll usually love it. So yeah, the casual summer wear looks really nice, and the vibrant colors work well. Admittedly, I lean towards darker colors, but even so they don't look like they're clashing to me. The pose is done well and had that relaxed summer feeling to it, with the background adding to it. I like your use of space in the bg as well. It can be difficult to fill a bg with enough stuff to make it look interesting, but also not bloated. The simple shapes and coloring of her shadow do a nice job of that! Keep up the good work as usual! Oh, and on a side note, I might not be drawing for a while because my tablet is having some operating issues or something where I'm only getting 20 minutes of drawing time before it stops working. So, unless I can either troubleshoot it or order a new one, I might just have to post some discussions to keep active on here.
> Abyssal Yoma Thank you! I always have a lot of reservation with my color work, and I think I'm doing it out of stubbornness a little because I really want to get better. They arent for Artisan alley, just sticker designs for the local selling I'm doing. I'm trying to bust them out this week so I can get back to manga!
I'll just comment on this most recent one, applying to all the others over the past day or so. The themed ones are nice, as i think you do a good job of not overdoing the "thematic" part of it, they have a good balance to them! The happy chibi stuff looks as cheerful as always! Are they hints at upcoming characters, or just one offs for fun? Besides that, the clouds on the other one look great! The best I can really manage so far is only the low streaky kind, the fluffy ones are a bit more challenging, as it can be hard to make them look random enough, and not like a tileset that was slapped onto the sky. but I think you did fine on them!
> Abyssal Yoma Yeah, the bandages are from gardening! Since the flowers are for asking forgiveness, repentance, regret etc. He is harmed by planting/sowing, actions and they eventually grow into guilt and regret, the fruits of whatever his bad actions were. Yeah, haha pretentious stuff lol Thank you! The sweater is the same as a previous sketch I did of eli, who had flowers for anxiety and silence. Trying to have a theme haha
I like the sweater design, simple but nice looking! Are the bandages on their fingers from picking out a bunch of flowers? The rest of it looks good, too!
Always cool to see some more characters! The balance of the grays in this is pretty good, it doesn't look too muddy or anything, and the eyes are nice!
> Abyssal Yoma Pinback buttons! It is super scary and it's an investment financially, so it's even scarier thinking about whether or not I'll do well... but its insanely fun. I really love all the business side of things too! And thank you, haha I was pretty proud of them just cuz I thought they'd turn out a lot worse! Ll
When you say buttons, are you talking about pin badges, or actual little buttons? They look cool though! It's probably pretty nerve wracking to be making stuff for an art fair, and have strangers judging you in person. Saying that doesn't help I'm sure, but it does mean you at least have confidence, which is a good thing!
> Abyssal Yoma Hahahaha, that's hilarious, you're right about the cord, and having it wrapped around his arm and behind his back is a recipe for disaster! Lol, wonder if I should erase the part over his arm so it looks like its threaded through... anyways, thank you for the comment! Haha
That headphone cord gives me anxiety, there's few things more annoying than having a cord rub against my arm! Besides that, it's good! Some comfy looking clothing and nice colors.
> Nass I know my stance can come across as a bit pretentious, but I am trying to make this a career at some point. Meaning I'll have to make income off of it eventually, or I'll have to work a job as some corporate stooge, stuck in a cubicle, or being used as cheap labor. 40 odd years of that is hardly an enticing prospect, so I'd rather avoid it if I can. Part of the reason this career is so appealing is the creativity it allows, where you can do what you want as long as you're good enough. Anime and manga have enriched my life more than anything else has, so it'd be nice to return the favor.
> Nass Currently, the plan is to first focus on getting the script and design documentation all wrapped up, so it can be sent in to apply for copyright because I want to have some actual legal protection on it before sharing anything official. I'm not about to spend two years on something for it to be stolen from me, not that I don't trust you, but I'm not going to allow the possibility. So no sharing it anywhere on the internet. Then the copyright process itself will likely take up to a year, but after that's all squared away I'll happily share some more stuff on it. As for actually making the manga, who knows how long it'll take to make just the first volume. And even then, I'd like for it to become a physically published work so I don't know that publishers would be too happy with the first bit of the series being free to see on the internet. If so, I'll at least share some artwork of the characters and places, much like I'm doing with my oneshot.
> Abyssal Yoma Haha, funny how our least favorite tropes and genres end up being necessary to further our progress! It sounds so cool, I can imagine something like that being incredibly interesting, and I think the live and inner workings of characters in fantasy settings is intriguing to people right now! Awesome, it's a huge undertaking but I know you are more than capable! I cant wait to read it! When you've started final manuscripts, are you gonna release it little by little or finish it and put it all up at once?
> Nass So, my writing project is me attempting to make a full length series right off the bat, 13 volumes worth of stuff. One of the better ways to describe it might be to say it's a dark "slice of life"-ish take on the superhero genre. It's basically my answer to not liking what the genre is putting out, so I'm making my own series to fit my tastes. Conceited, perhaps, but a certain level of that is needed I think. The very basic premise is that it's set in a modern mega city, with a quite large cast of characters, and everyone is wrapped up in their own problems being brought about by the power struggle between the "government" and a villain group. There's a lot of pov switching, fast paced chapters, and slightly odd story arc structure at times, but it fits the motto I've adopted for it: "comfortable chaos". It's kinda funny, because I've said I'm not a huge fan of slice of life, but here I am writing something that heavily leans on it.
They look cool, I love oversized sweaters that hide a person's hands! It's one of those things that just adds some cuteness. Looking forward to chapter 2 when it comes around!
> Abyssal Yoma Haha, shinji was so cool when I first started, now he has old man style hahaha Thank you so much!!
Man, Shinji has no fear, rocking those denim capris and a fanny pack like it's 2003. In all seriousness though, good job on the chibi style for this, it's cool how well you translate your characters between the two styles. Also, love the slight derp that star on his head has.
> Abyssal Yoma Hahaha, yeah, I agree! And actually, I'm doing some color work right now because I am doing a booth at a local artist garage sale in June, just bring in a little cash hopefully, so I wanted to have some finished looking pieces! I'm still not great at it, though. Haha don't worry though, I'm still focusing mostly on manga and black and white, I'm just not posting yet! Lol, thank you so much!
Another color drawing, I see. You know, I think the color on this one helped bring out the star pattern on the jacket's lining a lot more. In the old version from way back, it's really only visible on the large bottom section, but yeah, it does extend along the neck and cuffs as well.
> Abyssal Yoma Hahaha, thank you! That made my day, I'm so happy you liked it!!! I'll keep working!
It looks good to my shading impaired brain at least! If your practice is going this well, I'd say you probably have it handled from here, as you clearly understand color and shading. Looking forward to more!
> Abyssal Yoma Haha, I always adore those extras too! I contemplated whether it was too early for a comical extra bit, since people haven't had tons of time with the characters, but I loved doing it, and the feedback's been good, so I'm excited to draw more! Thank you for your feedback as always! I really appreciate it, even though I know I miss a lot of your drawings you post. It seems every time I log on to post something you have new stuff up! Keep up the good work!
Well, I've always liked when manga have extra bits at the end that are usually more comedic, so I'm probably a bit biased in liking this. So yeah, I'd say it'd be great to see more of these sprinkled in! The cover art looks nice, too!
> Yuno Thank you!! Haha, it was so fun to draw! I have about 4 more written, but they feature characters that haven't been introduced yet so now I'm gonna focus on chapter 2! Thank you for reading it! ^^
Aww this is so cute!! Short side stories between the main chapters are such a great idea, I'm looking forward to more! ^-^
> Abyssal Yoma Haha that's a good idea, show the exhaustion and chaotic adrenaline rush of just completing a huge task that was a lot of fun- if I portrayed them like this after the festa, it'd be a cool way to show different atmospheres in the story. I like that a lot hahaha, but originally yes they were just for fun! I like drawing dark things lol You are waaaaayyyy better at dark/grotesque/creepy drawings then me, so I can't wait to see them! haha Thank you so much!
Hey, no fair! I was going to put out some spooky drawings! Thunder...stolen...Joking aside though, these look pretty cool. The spot coloring turned out well, and of course the characters themselves look great, with their facial expressions. I don't think your manga's gonna take a dark turn like this, so I suppose these drawings are just for fun? Although I'd like to think that this is just what they look like after Friday Festa is over. The same comments apply to the other two posts as well, just don't want to spam ya with them!
> Baby Doll Wah, thank you so much!!! I love dark, psychological stuff as well so it was lots of fun to draw this haha
Love the art❤️
Aww daz soo cute 😊😊😊 nice drawing.. I like the dark feel to it i LOVE my psychological mangas and love seeing gore so overall great job!👍🏻
> Abyssal Yoma Thank you!!! I really enjoyed this one, too! I'll keep working hard on it! ^v^
Nice job! I think this does look better than the other version, has more "definition" to it. The shading and skin tones look good too! I can tell you've been practicing coloring, keep it up.
> T A T E R - T O T Waaah this made my night!!! Thank you for such specific and kind feedback!
I love your art! The way you draw characters is very cute and anatomically correct, and the colors you used look really nice
